✖ Canon Setting:
Naruto is set in a fantastical world that is largely based on Japanese culture and is referred to by the characters in the story as the Shinobi (or Ninja) World. In comparison to the real world, this setting seems rather behind in terms of technology and is more influenced by early modern Japan rather than recent modern Japan. Inventions such as gunfire and computers are nonexistent, but they have running fridges and working stoves. The most notable feature of the world is the large population of shinobi warriors and the supernatural element of their unique powers that are only made possible by their control of chakra (inner energy).
The foundation of the story and the lore within it begins with a woman, Kaguya of the Otsutsuki clan, eating the forbidden fruit grown on an ancient tree known as Shinju. Consuming it granted her powers, which would later come to be known as chakra.
Chakra allows humans to reach beyond their own limits and it is used in a variety of ways, such as using it to walk across water or even heal. Three techniques were invented on the basis of chakra usage: ninjutsu, genjutsu, and fuinjutsu. Ninjutsu basically translates to ninja techniques and encompasses almost all skills that require the usage of chakra and hand seals. Some basic ninjutsu that is normally taught to kids in training are the abilities to disguise one's self as another person or object and to clone one's self. Some advanced ninjutsu that requires a larger amount of chakra consists of elemental release (manipulating lightning, water, wood, or fire, etc.) and focusing chakra outside of the body to use it as a weapon. Genjutsu is an illusory technique that allows the user to manipulate chakra flow in their opponent's body, distorting their perspective and senses and making them imagine things according to the user's will. Fuinjutsu is a sealing technique and is used to basically "seal" things into other things. It can be used as a way of storing weapons within scrolls or it can be used to effectively trap powerful threats, such as the Tailed Beasts, into actual human beings. Hand-to-hand combat, otherwise known as taijutsu, was also developed to be used in conjunction with the other three techniques. Beyond these necessary skills, there are also special techniques, such as telepathy and shadow possession, that are exclusive to those who inherit them from their family's bloodline. They are called bloodline limits.
With the power of chakra Kaguya put an end to all of humanity's conflicts and wars, thus beginning a brief time of peace. After giving birth to a pair of twins and discovering that both had inherited the power of chakra, however, she became consumed by madness and greed. In an effort to control mankind and take back the chakra she had unwittingly passed on to her sons, Kaguya fused herself with the Shinju tree and manifested as a beast called Ten-Tails. She then began the process of Infinite Tsukuyomi, which is a technique that traps everyone who gets caught by Kaguya's stare reflected off of the moon and sent into a dream-like dimension controlled by her will.
With their inherited power, Kaguya's sons Hagoromo and Hamura, sought out to battle the Ten-Tails and defeat their mother. They sealed away both the Ten-Tails and their mother: the latter in the moon and the former in Hagoromo's own body. Before they could fully do so, Kaguya separated a part of her will from her body, creating a sentient being known as Black Zetsu, who would be later try to find a way to revive Kaguya. Unaware of this, Hagoromo continued to focus on saving the world, dispelling the Infinite Tsukuyomi and traveling across the lands to give humanity the power of chakra, as well as teach them his ideals of peace and religion. He became known as the Sage of Six Paths. Before dying, Hagoromo chose his youngest son, Asura, to be his successor, as his values of peace and compassion matched his own. The oldest son, Indra, who valued power and saw strength and control as a means of keeping peace, became enraged with envy, which caused him to easily succumb to the manipulation of Kaguya's will, Black Zetsu. Corrupted, Indra fought against Asura, and their feud lasted through the generations, pitting two clans that had each descended from either brother against each other. From Indra descended the Uchiha clan, and from Asura descended both the Uzumaki clan and the Senju clan.
The ability to manifest and control chakra continued to spread across the world in this time and eventually it was perfected and developed by the people who practiced it. Chakra granted people powers, and unsurprisingly, with those powers came violence. The world became increasingly war-torn and both the Uchiha clan and Senju clan competed as mercenaries for hire, breeding their own armies of battle-ready shinobi. Members of the Uchiha clan had the potential to awaken eyes known as the Sharingan, a tool capable of performing powerful genjutsu. While they inherited great power and battle prowess from their ancestor, Indra, they seemed to also carry his hatred, which came to be known as their clan's curse. The Senju clan was also powerful in their own right, as they inherited their ancestor's chakra, and eventually most of the Uchiha began surrendering to them, much to Madara's (the Uchiha leader) dismay. The leader of the Senju clan approached Madara and suggested a treaty, to which he agreed to, and together they founded the first hidden village: Konohagakure.
Other villages were founded all over the world afterwards, though only five became major through their power and influence. The villages are as followed: Iwa of Earth country, Kumo of Lightning country, Kiri of Water country, Suna of Wind country, and Konoha of Fire country.
Each village has its own structure and government, but the five major villages have special governors known as Kages, all of whom are incredibly powerful. Each village has its own military that consists of shinobi. The lowest ranking shinobi are called genin, and they typically don't get involved in war as they are just apprentices. Genin who are promoted to the next rank are called chuunin, and they are average by shinobi standards. Above chuunin are jounin, who are considered to be elites who work as the mentors for genin when they're not on their own missions. Missions are divided into five levels: D, C, B, A, and S and can vary from simple errands to man hunts. D-rank missions are the least dangerous and are typically tasked to genin. C-rank missions carry more risks than D-rank missions, but are still considered hardly dangerous; both chuunin and more experienced genin can take on these assignments. B and A rank missions are more dangerous and are strictly given to chuunin and jounin. S-rank is the highest level of missions and the most dangerous and typically require the level of a jounin to complete. Shinobi that defect from their village are called missing-nin and are wanted criminals by their village.
Towards the end of his life, Hagoromo had separated the Ten-Tail's chakra into nine entities that would later become known as the Tailed Beasts, and sealed away the Ten-Tail's husk of a body within the moon. Despite the longstanding history of conflict amongst the general population of the world, every village shares an interest in containing the power of the nine Tailed Beasts, for their destructive power is far too great and, in their eyes, a threat to the entirety of humanity. The Tailed Beasts were captured during the formation of the Hidden Villages and several villages were given a Tailed Beast to seal within their chosen human being. A human possessing a Tailed Beast inside them is known as a jinchūriki and when their lifetime is over, another human is used to seal the Tailed Beast into.
Despite this shared interest, conflicts were still abound between opposing villages, but there was also turmoil to be found within one's own home. Due to the Senju's great influence and power, their clan's leader was appointed head of the village, which greatly unnerved Madara. Like his ancestor, he became susceptible to Black Zetsu's manipulation and he eventually turned against Konoha. Using his Sharingan, he controlled the Nine Tails Beast and rampaged through the village, but was eventually stopped and the Nine Tails was sealed inside a jinchūriki. Faking his death, Madara retreated and survived on the chakra reserves of Ten Tails husk, which he had unsealed from the moon and summoned back to the world.
The Nine Tails Beast would wreak havoc over Konoha again in the future, but until then the world continued on as it was, unaware of Madara's survival and his plans to perform Infinite Tsukuyomi, which he discovered about through the aid of Black Zetsu.
Four shinobi world wars proceeded after the formations of the villages; the fourth differing from the first three in that instead of fighting with each other, the villages banded together to face a common threat: Uchiha Obito, who had been indirectly influenced by Kaguya's will, Black Zetsu. His attempt at recreating Kaguya's Infinite Tsukuyomi was put to a stop by a shinobi force led by Naruto himself.
From a young age, Obito undoubtedly believed in the importance of of camaraderie and bonds, placing his loyalties to his comrades and friends before anything else. As a shinobi, he was trained to be both ruthless and focused in order to be expected to efficiently complete missions. He was taught that sometimes sacrifices had to be made and that could not deter him from finishing any given objective. Obito has always had it in him to kill without batting an eye, but compromising the safety of his friends was out of the question since the beginning of his career as a shinobi. This strong conviction proved to be both his strength and his weakness, as it left him susceptible to having his values being turned against him. Sensitive and emotional by nature, he never approached anything halfheartedly -- when he would feel, he would feel strongly, whether it was happiness or anguish. Losing what was possibly his most important bond broke him in such a way that it was able to throw him into a descent of darkness and cynicism.
As a kid, Obito was never regarded as anything remarkable despite coming from a clan that was renowned for their elite shinobi. He had high expectations to meet, but he was average at best, especially when compared to the genius of his class, Kakashi Hatake. Despite this, he still held himself in high esteem and deluded himself into thinking he was of the same level as Kakashi; constantly, he pushed himself to try and match his skill in every way possible. Due to his lack of talent and how goofy he came off as while trying to perform well, his classmates, Kakashi included, had learned to not take him seriously. While facing their dismissive treatment did serve to both unnerve and offend him, he continued to maintain confidence in himself. However, that confidence acted as a double-edged sword, as it reached a point where it manifested as cockiness. Hot-headed and somewhat impatient, Obito was practically shameless when it came to opposing others when he felt it was called for. He was also quick to get jealous, especially when having to be subjected to watching another's success where he had failed.
He was deemed by many as ungrateful and irresponsible because of his petty attitude and his notorious habit of arriving late to just about everything, however good his intentions might have been. Consistently in his childhood, he always chose to help anyone he came across (especially the elderly) over focusing on getting somewhere on time. This was an example of how innately good-natured he was, but it was also telling of how inconsiderate he could be as well. What he lacked in skill and professionalism, however, he made up for with hard work, strong will, and unwavering determination that coincided with his other values as a shinobi. He never shied away from a challenge even when it seemed the odds were against him, but to counterbalance his shortcomings he had to rely heavily on teamwork and wholeheartedly put trust in his comrades.
His relationships with his teammates were his primary motivations at that point. Obito had a strong attachment to Rin in particular, as she had tended to him and encouraged his dreams while others had ignored him. Earning her acknowledgment, as well as protecting her, became one of his biggest priorities, and her safety came before anyone else's. Both Rin and Kakashi were incredibly important to him, even if he did consider the latter his rival, and did everything in his power to protect both of them. He sacrificed himself to save Kakashi, proving his dedication to him, and by asking him to protect Rin, proved he also believed in and depended on his strength. After realizing he had survived, the first thing thought of was how grateful he was to have the chance to reunite with his friends. His loyalty to his team was what helped him deflect Madara's attempts to convince him to join him in his cause.
Witnessing Rin die at the hands of Kakashi marked the point where a great shift in Obito's personality and motivations took place. Failing to protect Rin deeply affected both Obito and Kakashi, but for Obito it had effectively stripped him of all hope and idealism he previously had for the world, making his pain easy to exploit. With the loss of Rin, Madara's goal of placing the world under a genjutsu in order to attain peace didn't seem so irrational to Obito anymore. He would do anything to revive Rin and live a happy life with both her and Kakashi, even if it meant having to destroy reality in the process. For Obito, a delusion in the shape of a dream world would be enough, and that very concept became his life's driving force.
Adopting Madara's identity changed Obito in ways that extended to the core of his being, warping his values, beliefs, and his sense of self. All individuality he once possessed seemed to have vanished, having been replaced by the will of his ancestor. He no longer maintained his old quarks of helping the elderly and arriving late to meetings, and his newfound contempt for the world and humanity inspired him to be especially ruthless and unsympathetic. Even his manner of speaking completely changed to fit his Madara persona, which influenced him to approach people more professionally. When conducting business, he maintained a certain distance and avoided being personable unless it was to his advantage to be. To most people, Obito carried a mature, if enigmatic air about him.
This Obito also proved to be better at keeping his emotions in check, as he had to in order to maintain his ambition and facade without faltering. There was a time when Obito had the tendency to freeze up in battle and cry when anxious, but as Madara, he was decisive and quick to seize opportunity to further his interests as he saw it. He didn't hold any loyalties to anyone, even to Madara, his co-collaborator. He put forth all of his focus on his goal of recreating Infinite Tsukuyomi. Obito would again have to rely on teamwork, but he wouldn't prioritize their safety like he would have as a kid. He wouldn't even help them if it somehow inconvenienced him, either, which is a stark contrast to his old penchant for performing good deeds. Teamwork had become something that was solely a means to an end for Obito. To avoid drawing unnecessary attention to himself while working with his team, he created yet another persona: Tobi. Tobi was basically an unassuming idiot, reminiscent of who he once was, if a bit exaggerated. While it did display his impressive capacity for acting, it wasn't at all reflective of his new identity. Tobi was soon thrown away after it became unnecessary to hide his plans.
Obito was shamelessly open about his plans once he knew the time to execute them was drawing nearer. He boldly approached all five of the Kages and their accompanying advisers, telling them that if they did not cooperate with his plan, he would declare war. Despite the tension of the situation, Obito was supremely calm. As deceptive as he had to be as Madara and Tobi, he was surprisingly honest about his intentions, which suggests that he truly believed he had complete control. This persisted in most confrontations he shared with his enemies.
Posing as Madara for so long had left Obito barely recognizable in the eyes of the people who had known him in the past. Once so sociable and friendly, Obito had turned into someone who was cruel and seemingly unfeeling. His words towards Kakashi in particular were cutting and harsh, leaving no room for reason as he dismissed and deflected his old friend's attempts at reaching out to him. If anything remained unchanged, it was his unrelenting nature and goal-oriented mindset. The very bonds Obito had been so desperate to preserve meant nothing to him when he could have them all in the new world, so he wasn't to be deterred.
Stubbornness aside, Obito still held lingering attachment to his friends, which was exactly why he was hoping to meet them in the dream world in the first place. As much as Obito claimed to no longer care about the past or who he used to be, he continued to hold onto his memories of the days he spent with his friends, as well as the previous dreams he once had of becoming Hokage. Facing Naruto had been a lot like facing his past-self for Obito and that may very well be the only reason why the boy was able to reach through to him, as the old Obito never completely disappeared. It was something he always unconsciously held onto, making it possible for him to have a change of heart. Despite his best efforts to repress his own visions of a happier world he could have possibly lived in had he not joined Madara, Obito's resolve weakened.
Obito had wanted Naruto to succumb to the cruelness of reality as he once had, but in the end he succumbed to Naruto’s will through his defeat. Accepting that he had been suffering from losing Rin all that time allowed him to then open his mind to the possibility of "filling in the hole" Rin's death had left in him. He realized that the path he had taken was wrong and with the sudden change in his mindset came a desire to repent.
Upon his epiphany, Obito's aggression and anger seemed to have finally simmered down, allowing for his old values to emerge through his current exterior. Some changes remained still, as he continued to stay calm and level-headed unlike his youthful-self, but on top of those traits were good intentions. While rather subdued in how he approached the people he once saw as enemies, he did everything in his power to aid and accommodate them. He also showed an impressive capacity for consideration and care for them as well. Now way more sympathetic and agreeable, Obito had reclaimed key traits he had as a kind-hearted kid along with his identity. He was an Uchiha, a subordinate of Naruto’s father, and a friend of Kakashi; all of which were parts of himself that he for so long denied. Through helping Naruto and his friends fight Kaguya, Obito was able to rebuild his sense of self, something he had lost at the hands of Madara’s manipulation. He came to care about Naruto and his fiends, and invested in his ideals of attaining peace through creating bonds.
Obito is ultimately a man hardened by war, trauma, and loss, but as he is now he is no longer controlled by delusions, nor does he hold contempt for humanity. His hope for a better world has been renewed, but at this point in his life he believes that there is no place for him in it. Everything he had done, he had done for the sake of being able to revive a lost bond, but in the process he had destroyed many lives and hurt people he cared about. He became someone Rin would not want to even look at, and realizing that, Obito came to develop deep regret and a desire to find peace in death.
✖ Character Powers & Skills:
POWERS
• Body Modifications - Obito was saved after he was crushed by rocks only because Madara had fused his body with the same substance the White Zetsu (grown on the Ten-Tails husk) was made out of, replacing the parts of his body that weren't able to be salvaged after the accident. This substance grants him inhuman strength in his right arm and leg, rapid healing, extra chakra, and the ability to sustain himself without food or water. The body modification also grants Obito access to the Senju's bloodline limit, wood release, which will further be explained in the ninjutsu section.
• Chakra - Obito can concentrate and manipulate chakra at will. He's capable of sticking to vertical surfaces, as well as walking on water. Because of his body modification, he has more chakra than the average person, but when he does run low on it, he becomes exhausted.
• Sensing - Obito can also sense and pinpoint an individual's chakra, which allows him to track anyone's chakra he recognizes. In CDC, this will be limited to only those who actually have chakra, which are exclusively people from the Naruto universe.
• Dojutsu and Genjutsu - Obito possesses the ability to wield the Uchiha clan's bloodline limit to its full potential: the Sharingan. The Sharingan is an eye ability that changes the colour of the iris red upon activation - tomoes (comma-like shapes that spin around the iris) are added around the pupil as it levels up, with three being the maximum.
The first and most basic ability the Sharingan has is being able to track chakra flow within a person's body, which is similar to the way infrared technology works. The second ability the sharingan grants the user is enhanced perception and vision, allowing the user to easily discern reality from illusion, as well as predicting a person's movements based on subtle cues in their body. This prediction is perceived by the user as a moving image. The Sharingan can also record jutsus (sans other bloodline limits) and attacks, allowing the user to copy them flawlessly without any previous training or practice.
The fourth ability the Sharingan is capable of is powerful hypnosis, which is otherwise known as genjutsu. Once locking eyes with a person who wields a Sharingan, they can potentially put their opponent underneath an illusion. Contents vary depending on the user's will and can simply trick someone into thinking something is there when it isn't, or trick someone's senses into perceiving a physical attack.
Obito can also use an advanced version of the Sharingan, called the Mangekyo Sharingan. With this special form of the Sharingan, Obito has access to a technique called Kamui, which is a space-time jutsu. With it, Obito can teleport, as well as make himself intangible. As he now has both of his eyes, Obito can perform close-range teleportation and long-range teleportation; this means that by just looking at something, be it a person or weapon, he can teleport it to another dimension only his eyes are connected to, trapping them there. Obito can also do this through touch by the power of his right eye. Since only Obito has the power to teleport in and out of his personal dimension, he uses it quite often to store things.
As for intangibility, the Kamui basically... teleports parts of his body being touched to his personal dimension, which makes it appear as though whatever's touching him is phasing right through his body. He can also extend this power to people who are touching him before the intangibility activates, making them intangible as well. The longest he can continuously use this ability is ten minutes.
• Ninjutsu - Obito has a diverse selection of ninjutsu, varying from basic to advanced. Because he relies heavily on his bloodline limit and his more advanced kills, he hardly ever uses the basic ones, but he is capable of performing Clone Jutsu, which is a technique that allows the user to make intangible copies of themselves, and Body Substitute, which is a skill shinobi use by replacing a random object in their place, escaping a short distance away.
The Uchiha's specialty are fire-based attacks, and the following are techniques Obito has used in canon:
Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique - A technique that converts chakra into fire, which is released out of the mouth in a massive gust of fire. Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance - A technique similar to the Great Fireball Technique in that chakra is converted into fire and expelled out of the mouth, but instead of a big mass of flame, it takes on a whip-like shape that spirals outwards, covering more of a distance. Uchiha Flame Formation - Chakra is again converted into flames, but instead of being expelled from the mouth, the user uses their hand. Placing the palm on any given surface, the user can generate a barrier made out of chakra flame, sending it to any location of their choosing as long as it is connected to the surface in which their hand is placed on.
Obito's body modification, which is infused with Senju's DNA, allows Obito access to the Wood Release Technique. The techniques he uses based on this special access in canon are as followed:
Wood Release: Cutting Technique - A technique that causes wooden spikes or branches to grow from the user's body (in Obito's case, this technique can only manifest on the right side of his body, where his body modification is), which the user can break off and use as close-range weapons or projectiles. The user can activate the branches to rapidly grow and spread out at lethal speed, and if they pierce the enemy's body before activation, the victim will be impaled by the wood in multiple directions. Wood Release: Underground Roots Technique - This technique pulls roots out of the terrain at rapid speed and can be used defensively by making it difficult for the enemy to navigate through them, or offensively by crushing or impaling the enemy. Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole - Basically as it says: the user uses their chakra to disappear underground and tunnel through the earth. This can be used to escape a short distance away from the enemy or to launch a surprise attack on the enemy.
SKILLS
• Taijutsu - Obito is trained and skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
• Bukujutsu - Obito has experience wielding a variety of weapons, including the typical tools used by shinobi (swords, kunai and shuriken). He regularly uses kusari-fundo (a chain with weights on other side) to ensnare his opponents, keeping them in close-range so he can perform Kamui on them. He can basically make a lethal weapon out of most things, as evident by his usage of pipes and tree branches as impaling sticks.
He remembered their joined hands and the gentle tug at his arm that followed as they started making their way towards the afterlife. They had been so close to reaching the boundary leading into the next world, but before he could even cross it along with her, something had pulled at him. The force seized him by the chest and yanked him back as if he had weighed nothing, leaving him no time or room to fight against it. When Rin's fingers slipped from his, everything faded to black.
When he opened his bleary eyes, he wasn't met with Rin's warm smile or the soft glow he had expected to be ever-present in death. Instead, what greeted him was a number of unfamiliar faces hovering over him against the backdrop of white light. It took him about a nanosecond to realize what had been done; he had been brought back to life.
His eyes flashed red in an instant as his sharingan was automatically activated in face of the new threat before he could even open his mouth and demand answers. His reflexes took over from there, sending him into a flip over the table he'd woken atop of to gather distance between himself and the three women dressed in black. He could feel his chakra flow unrestrained through his body, which could only mean this wasn't the result of Edo Tensei.
At the forefront of his mind, there was Rin as she had always been there, and a part of him wanted to immediately ask where she was. Before he could, though, he realized that such a question would be redundant. He knew exactly where she was; she was still dead.
"You brought me back," he spoke in half-disbelief, but there was an edge underlying his tone that had meant to be biting.
"Yes. But we did so only to have a conversation with you. We have no intentions of taking you back to the realm of the living against your will, I assure you," came the woman in the middle's reply.
His brow sloped in what appeared to be a scrutinizing stare as he processed her words, suppressing the urge to snort as he had to maintain focus over the situation. His eyes darted around the room in a flicker, taking in his surroundings. They were in an enclosed space without any windows, and besides the three women standing in the middle, there was nothing worth taking interest in. What unnerved him though, was the apparent lack of chakra in their bodies.
"I've no reason to trust in what you say, yet." Now that he was convinced that they only wanted to talk, his posture relaxed, but the scathing tone of his voice remained. "Whatever your intentions are, they don't matter to me. I can't think of many reasons why someone would bring a dead man back to the living."
"You suffer from deep regret, Uchiha Obito, and you will carry that into the afterlife with you. Doesn't that bother you at all?"
The question posed a dilemma for Obito, because he had no reason to lie, but his pride stopped him from fully admitting to the assumption. He still had yet to gauge their intentions, after all.
"There is no hope for redemption for me, and I've come to terms with that. What I've done is irreversible. There is no place for me there and I wouldn't be able to make one even if I wanted to."
"Our intentions are not to absolve you of your crimes. We are offering you an opportunity to save your world through your cooperation with us. Your powers would be of use to our organization and we are hoping to make a deal with you -- join us and your world shall be spared." Her voice trailed off ominously after, and Obito bristled upon registering her threat.
"Spared?"
What followed after had been an audible blur as the three women took turns to further explain who they were, where they came from, and what their purpose was. In all of his years studying the Shinobi World under Madara, he had never come across the concept of outside-world enemies. The very idea seemed impossible, but reading their bodies with his Sharingan, he could tell they weren't of his world. Even so, it wasn’t enough for him to begrudgingly accept their invitation to be their pawn.
"Just how am I to believe you have that sort of power?"
"You'd be surprised at what kind of power we have managed to accumulate over the years. We are but a few of many powerful beings, and there are those who are much more powerful than even us. The question is, are you willing to risk the off-chance that we are not bluffing?"
That had been the very thought running through his mind. He realized he was defeated long before they finished explaining what their organization was and what they were planning to do. For the sake of Kakashi, Naruto, and the rest of the world, he had to comply with their terms. Instead of saying anything, Obito allowed his expression to reflect his sorrow as he inwardly thought over his options. Regardless of how he would give them his answer, of one thing he was certain --
"I'll take that reaction as a no."
-- Rin would have to wait for him a bit longer.
“I’ll join you," he finally said.
CHARACTER ITEMS. ✖ Pick a Team:
RED - Obito is a trained and efficient killer who specializes in covert missions. If the CDC is looking for prior experience in order to gauge suitability, he fits the bill perfectly. GREEN - Obito is a powerhouse and would be most useful on Green after Red.
✖ Reason for Joining the CDC: I'm going with full-disclosure, first of all, as it is the easiest way to convince Obito to join the organization. With the CDC threatening his world, he has no choice but to agree to their terms, because he believes he owes it to the world after everything he's done. And since he cares for certain people who live in it, he has a personal interest in preserving the world. ✖ Mission Freebie: Kakashi lost his Sharingan during the battle against Madara, so Obito will request that Kakashi be granted the power of Sharingan and to be able to use it as any other Uchiha can (meaning he can switch it on and off at will). If this isn't possible, then Obito will give Kakashi his left eye, thinking he'll need it more than he does as the Hokage. ✖ Personal Item or Weapon:Shakujo.
✖ Character Inventory:
Literally nothing besides his personal item of choice, because he'll have to be resurrected. Though he did have a pair of pants right before he died. The CDC must give him his clothes...
Blue was a team I had actually originally considered! But in my mind's eye, I had figured that the CDC would probably want to fully exploit his battle prowess by using him as one of their frontliners in combat. Because being on blue suggests a degree of inactivity action-wise, I figured it was ill-suited for him considering just how powerful he is. Regardless, after further consideration I'd like to switch my second choice for Obito from Green to Blue, since my only reason for choosing Green was because I thought his destructive powers would be useful to the CDC!
RED
As a shinobi, Obito's greatest strength is his ability to complete covert tasks and missions efficiently and quickly. He has a lot of experience in operating within the shadows, as well as killing former accomplices without bias when they start to oppose him. What the Red Team is looking for is a specific kind of skill set (battle prowess and stealth) and grey morality, both of which Obito has and is inclined towards. Having fought two wars already, Obito is well-versed in the ways of a soldier and has enough independence that he can act according to any changes in the situation, making him a useful asset.
As for any potential development, Obito would potentially be faced with the dilemma of going against his comrades, which is something he would like to avoid after everything he has done in his own world. Because he values the safety of his world above all else, he wouldn't hesitate to turn against a traitor, but depending on his relationship with them he would be conflicted. This would offer me the chance to explore his renewed sense of camaraderie and compassion.
BLUE
Obito has had to actively stay on his toes when it comes to strategizing within the limits of his circumstances. For two decades Obito has had to carefully set up the foundation for his plan of recreating Infinite Tsukuyomi to take place on. In order to attain the power he needed to meet his goals, he has had to both manipulate those IN power into following his interests and take power by force. By the time he declared war against the world, he had effectively gained the leverage he needed to make winning actually possible and would have won if not for the fact that he was opposing the series' protagonist.
Also, with the most recent change in his personality, Obito would have a lot of interest in preserving the lives of his comrades rather than just seeing them as expendable and using them without regard for their safety. He would remain objective and plan according to the team's strengths and weaknesses, but he would avoid having to make sacrifices at all costs. Blue would offer me opportunities to display the changes in Obito's motivations, since he would have to carefully consider and weigh the importance of the lives he would be potentially responsible for against the overall goal of the CDC. I feel as though he would come through for the CDC and make sacrifices if he had to (especially because he is more used to being logical rather than sympathetic by now) - so his regard for his comrades would not hinder the CDC in the end.
Ultimately, he is a decisive, logical person and this strength is something the CDC would probably like to rely on. Obito would also be most comfortable having influence over the decisions of the CDC because it would give him a sense of control and power - things he's used to having.
